OMG so sore!!!
I know this isn't cosplay related but I just had to share. I returned to TaeKwonDo yesterday for the first time in 8 years. Oh man. It was AMAZING! Although I already have a beef with an arrogant yellow belt... bitch please XD
Anyways, yeah I just wanted to share that.

I'm waiting for my Rogue wig to come in and hopefully I'll be able to get Rogue done ASAP.

I'm ordering (err having Staci order) a new wig for... ROGUE!

Finally! I've been wanting to cosplay Rogue (X Men Evolution version for YEARS and finally I'm going to do it! I've had everything sitting in my closet, I just needed the wig. So I'm getting it within 2 weeks, and I already have the white hair extensions so I am just going to need to sew them in.. and voila!

Staci and I are going to have a Kitty Pride/ Rogue photoshoot in Temecula at this rooftop location I discovered... anyone want to to join? Jean Grey would be great, but really anyone from X Men Evolution would be AWESOME!

I also finally got around to changing my cosplay.com forum avatar and profile pic. Wow! haven't I been productive? :D

Ooohh, also I move into my new apartment in Irvine tomorrow! so anyone in the OC text/facebook/etc me if you guys want to hang out or do any photoshoots :D

Hello everyone, no I am not dead despite my absence for the past 6 months. I am finally back home :)
Just a quick update, despite the fact that I am broke my friend got me a badge to AX, I dont know exactly how, so Im not asking any questions and just running with it.
Sadly since Im broke I dont think I will be cosplaying, unless I dig out one of my old cosplays that I will hopefully be able to squeeze into.
That being said, I hope to see you all at Expo, now Im off to clean my room!

I'm at school trying to take advantage of the free internet since I don't have any at my apartmet.

I'm having a dilema about Comic Con, I want to go when I get back but I don't want to buy a ticket presale and then be forced to come back early.. becuase if I can I would like to stay out here for awhile.. depending on how far Ican stretch the money. But I don't want to miss out on all the Cons either, especially since I haven't gone to Comic Con in like.. 3 years.. D:

Also, if you guys should add my travel journal if you haven't achileanabroad

Ok, so I am going to take a slight detour from my travel journal, but I was chilling in my apartment over the weekend and watching MTV, I don't normally watch MTV but when there are only 2 channels in English.... beggars can't be choosers.
Anyways
Well does anyone remember the tv show MADE? I was watching it and it was about an anime fan/cosplayer. Now I'm all for the exposure, but the way they did it they made the poor girl into this loser. I mean she's 14 (and lets face it who isn't awkward at that age) but seriously... it made me want to call MTV and say I'm a cosplayer, but I know aboutr makeup and I'm no socially awkward. The way they talked about her was really harsh and they (supposedly) made her throw away all her manga, posters, and figurines... which I'm dubious about because if I was on that show I would HIDE ALL MY STUFF. They did however redo her room and it looked cute.
Anyways, that was it.. I just wanted to share, has anyone else seen that show? I've always wanted to do something like that, but I kinda like keeping my nerdiness to a small social circle XD. I'm not sure I would want all of America (and in this case the world) to know my hobbies... what do you guys think?

I can't believe I'm leaving for Berlin in a week! Wow. Time goes by so fast and I'm not even anywhere near ready.
Anyways, I created a travel LJ to log my adventures while in Germany/Europe.
Please add me if you want to know about my travels and mishaps. It will be family friendly, unless I make the post friends only. My mom will be reading my entries, but she doens't know how to sign up (plus I wouldn't add her if she did XD)

XD, busy month! Hope everyone is off to a good start in December.
I'm pretty busy between school, work, volunteering and preparing for Germany but I'm excited for the holidays... Hopefully I can put up my Chirstmaas decorations this year, I have an entire front yard scene of Nightmare Before Christmas with Jack Skellington and PUMPKINS. That's right, you read it. PUMPKINS. IN DECEMBER.

Btw, I made (cut, painted, etc) the 6.5 foot tall Jack Skellington and the pumpkins :D

Again, sorry for disappearing off the face of the internet.
But I am here to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
Eat lots of turkey and stuffing and pie, but make sure you can still fit in your cosplays XD

The end of the quarter is looming and I'm so excited!
As of Janurary 5th I will be in Berlin, Germany... freezing my ass off granted, but I'll be in Berlin!!
My last day here in Costa Mesa/OC area will be December 11th or so, so if anyone in the area wants to hang out (I would love to hang out)
Shoot me a text or drop a comment.

I wish I could go to ALA this year, but sadly I don't have the time (or the money) considering how much living in Germany is going to cost.

For you guys that don't know, don't be worried. I'm not staying for ever, for 8 months tops, since I need to be back in time for school next year. And, no I don't speak any German, but I will (hopefully). I'm studying abroad and I will have my own apartment, I'll keep you guys all updated ASAP.

School is eating my brain, and its only the second week.

I think there's an 85% chance that I'm going to AniMagic, who else is going??

I'm sad, I wanted to wear Raven but I got such a late start on her that I'm going to have to rehash my costumes. Oh well I'll probably wear Katara or Utena.

Um, yeah thats about it. Back to homework now.

Oh, oh! I got my transfer put in to work in Tustin now, so now I'll be at the Loft at Market place. Come visit me if you are in the area :D

Explaining my absence (Reader's Digest)

Well, my life has been quite interesting to say the least.
Lets see..
The Week before last:
-I got a parking ticket because I had forgotten my permit had expired
-I had a test in my math class, in which I bubbled my answers in one off.
and finally
I burned my eyeball. I got concentrated dish soap in my eye which burned the top layer of epithelial cells of my eye (I looked like a sasquatch) >.O
The whole ordeal was way painful and comedic at the same time.

Oh and did I mention that was all one day, on Monday.

This week I burned my right hand on my room mate's hair straightener, it slipped out of my hand and I instinctively reached to grab it but I caught it by the metal part and burned my thumb, half of my palm and every finger but my pinky. It hurt pretty bad, but thankfully I was able to treat it, I put it under running water and then I had it elevated wrapped in a cold compress/bowl of water and kept i elevated so that i didn't blister, but turned calloused.

So yeah thats been my week.

Yesterday I was talking to my friend and we started talking about Daria and I thought wouldn't it be cool to cosplay from Daria and get a group together. Lol, aww the 90s.. Good times.

Ok, so I had to take an hour hiatus since I am babysitting and my child was being difficult. Ahhh! It took almost 2 hours to get her to go go back down to sleep.

Ack. I haven't been on LJ in almost a month, so I apologize if I missed anything/forgot something etc etc.
Well needless to say, I was not able to go to SDCC this year D:, which makes me a sad panda since I might not be able to go next year.
I am aiming to go to Animagic and maybe AnimeLA before I leave for Germany in January.
I am back in summer school after having a week off, now I only have classes M and W, which is better but still its summer school.
I know I'm late, but I finally started watching Code Geass (AAAHH!!!! I'm on episode 4 XD)
Lets see... I don't really know what else to write... Cosplay wise I started shopping around for Yukari stuff again, and I found a really cute Argyle top/jumper thingy so lets see what I can piece together, since I have like 4 or 5 different articles of clothing with argyle and not to mention like 4 pairs of argyle socks and tights. XD
Since I didn't go to SDCC I didn't work on Raven, but my goal is to have her done by Animagic.

In other news, Barrie (Reaver) and Mike's (Captain Jack) wedding is this Saturday. Ahh!! I've been running around so much since I'm the Maid of Honor, Barrie and I were up till 2 am last Tuesday making centerpieces for the wedding lol. But its been fun too, we had the Bachelorette party on Friday, the Pirate Wedding on Saturday-- which was basically a Rum Party gathering down at Sunset cliffs in Point Loma where "Captain Jack" married his "pirate queen/wife". It was really fun, everyone was dressed up as pirates but it was really scary scaling down the cliffs in cosplay carrying food and drinks and a cake @.@. Sunday was the Bridal Shower so it was a pretty jam packed weekend, so needless to say I did not have very much free time last week between work, babysitting and wedding plans @.@, but its been fun. I can't believe Barrie's getting married so soon, its kind of surreal.
But, now I need to go to bed, I'm going to a shooting range tomorrow :D

I know I'm a bit late, but here's my recap for AX

-Although I didn't like the location as much as Anaheim it was waaaaay better than the epic fail of Long Beach last year.
-Even though Staci and I only went for one day, we still had a lot of fun seeing everyone and hanging out!
-I'm really happy how Katara turned out, with my sewing (err lack of) skills-- but I couldn't have done it without Staci's help!( and Barrie's too)
-I wish I had more time in the dealers hall, but I would much rather have spent the day with friends!
-Sword of the Stranger was REALLY GOOD, and it would have been better if I could have read the subtitles from where I was sitting, but alas. I'm short and the movie was still really good.
-I'm glad people recognized me as Katara, and I got a few pics taken of me during the day-- I even roped a poor Zuko cosplayer (who was a girl) to do a Zutara pic with me XDD.
Ok, some some shout outs and I'm sorry if I forget anyone!

costashi- Thanks for making the day so enjoyable and helping me sew Katara. I loved you as San, especially the last pic of the day ;)
blanklogo- Thanks for the AWESOME photoshoot!!!! I can't wait to see the final product
hybrid_twist- It was good seeing you! and I will finish Yukari... eventually XD
mekare117-How random that we ran into each other? Yay! I still want to go to the fabric store you were telling me about!
wabisuke- I LOVED your cosplays and your Sora costume was beyond--dare I say it-- KAWAII. We should hang out soon (I mean seriously you live 20 mins away

cosraelle- It was weird not rooming with you, but I'm so glad we got to hang out and go to dinner
hikitsuri- I know you probably won't see this XD, but you're Angemon cosplay was AMAZING, and I am proud to be your friend XD

To everyone else I didnt' see or I might have forgotten, I'm sorry! I hope I get to see everyone soon! I'm still trying to work out the kinks for Comic Con, if I don't have a final on Friday I will go on Thursday (since I'm in summer school this year its making my con season suffer ;_;)
If I go to comic con, I think I am going to have to repeat Katara since there is no way I can finish Raven in 2 weeks.

So because I was so indecisive about AX I forgot to request the 4th of July off from work (thats the only day that will work out for my friend and I go together)
I put in a request today but I'm almost sure I'm not going to get it since its a holidy *and* a Friday.
I was all intent on boycotting AX this year, but the closer it got the mroe I realized I didn't know what to do withmyself for the 4th of July weekend. I have spend every 4th of July since I was 15 at AX!!
I hope I get the day off, I want to go. Even if its for a day!!!
Especially since I most likely I will not be able to go next year (I got accepted into my Study abroad program in Germany!! I leave in January but I don't think I'll be back in time for the con season)

I did however put in my request off for the Comic Con weekend, so if I don't go to AX I am going to try to go for 2 days. I do need to buy my tickets tho ASAP, or else I will be S.O.L and have a free weekend, but no con. lol.
Also, I don't know if anyone here is going, but costashiand I are going to the Masquerade Labyrinth of Jareth Ball we're going on Friday July 11th.
Let me know if anyone is going!!

Trip to the Garment District = SUCCESS!! :D :D

costashi and I had an AMAZING time in the garment district yesterday. I found the velvet for Raven's cape in the first store I walked into. I know I probably should have waited or tried to bargain a little bit more, I could have gotten a better deal, but as it was I did get a discount (he took the tax off if I paid cash) so I got 4.5 yards of spandex velvet for 20 bucks :D its so pretty and the prefect color (I opted for a navy blue since in the tv show I remember one episode when Jinx says "doesn't this girl wear anything other than indigo").
Staci and I then wandered around into some bead stores where she got lots of beading supplies and I saw the PERFECT sequins (shape/size wise) for Raven's belt BUT they didn't have the color I needed D: sadness, we walked around some more, but when I went back to the first store to buy the jewels that were a different color (I figured I could paint them) they had closed T.T, which I guess is a sign meaning that I should wait until I find them again.
Afterwards Staci bought the fur she needed for her Princess Mononoke cosplay and we finished the garment district with hot dogs from a cart vendor and non-alcoholic Sangria (yum!) while sitting under a doorway away from the rain (we looked like homeless people, it was so much fun!)
Since it was still early and Staci had to go to a museum we decided to go to MOCA and after some wrong turns from her TOMTOM (stupid GPS XD). I was skeptical since I'm not a huge fan of contemporary art, but they had works by Barbara Kruger, Bruce Numan and Jean-Michel Basquiat which are some contemporary artists I really like.
FINALLY,
After the museum and a stint in traffic we returned to Irvine where Staci and I had a photo shoot at UCI XD. I took some pictures of her as Badou from DOGS (manga). The pics turned out AWESOME and Staci looked great! Pictures soon!
We accomplished so much in one day and yet were done with everything by like 7:30pm.
After the photo shoot Staci and I caravaned back home to Temecula to be with our respective families.
Now I'm "babysitting" my 18 year old brother who had reconstructive knee surgery on Friday. Poor guy, he's a cripple so we're watching Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie while my parents are out on errands.

Ok, I know I'm late here.. but I need to say.
I saw Speed Rae (TWICE) this weekend and its AMAZING!!! I absolutely love it. Very Reminiscent of the anime, although blatant cg did take some getting used to. I saw it on opening night on IMAX and it was totally worth it! I also saw it on Sunday (mothers day, with my "other mother) lol.
Anyways, thats about it. I'm at school right now and I haven't really had a chance to get online, but I just wanted to say hi and update everyone.
Oh yeah, and I'm totally cosplaying (movie version) Trixie. I liked Christina Ricci as Trixie! She took a bit getting used to, but in the end I think she was probably the best (second to Emile Hirsch as Speed :D)

Hi! everyone, Ok I know this is random but I need your help! I know some of you don't know me very well, but if you could please comment if you can help me or if you know someone who can.

As you all know, I go to UC Irvine. Well, I somehow got appointed as the Art Director for the Queer Culture Festival at UCI this year.
I really don't know how it happened, #1 me to speaking to the person in charge in 3 years, #2 me being of the heterosexual variety. Well to make along story short this friend of mine is in charge with this program and her friend who was the art director is now in the hospital and I was the person she first thought of.
My dilema is that now I need to line up at least 20 or so works of art for this exhibit. They can be anything, photography, painting, sculpture, tapestries, etc etc. From what I understand last year one girl submitted a 12ft sculpture made of duck tape.
The point is from what my friend told me (since I just found out all of 1 hour ago) is that its not all about the "gay culture" yeah its mostly geared towards that. But its not limited to it.
So if you or anyone you know is an artist, photographer, performer, ANYTHING and can help submit something to us. I will greatly appreciate it. You will be given a release form and your works taken care of.
The actual event is going to take place on May 10th and I can meet up with you before hand to pick up/out any works you might be interested in submitting.

Time for QUEER CULTURE FESTIVAL ART SUBMISSIONS AND SPOKEN WORD TALENTS!!! QCF outreaches to a wide array of individuals across universities, firms, and various organizations. We aim to form a collaborative night filled with diverse works of musical performances, an art gallery, an open mic session and everything in between. We hope to attract many other colleges to the event though we're still in the process of organizing it all. I really want to open up opportunities for branching talents in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and especially for our ally community and I truly believe that for some of our struggling talents this could be a start and for our veterans, it could be something fun and also more publicity to tag onto their resumes. This event not only reaches to the LGBT community, our ally community is also a LARGE part of QCF. Their support is what helps us prove to society that there can be a hate free relationship between the LGBT community and the heterosexual community.

Last spring we had well-known folk singer, Melineh Kurdian, perform and spoken word artists from University of California, Riverside attend. The turn out was amazing and it felt so good to see so many people come out and support. The demand and mere anticipation for next year's performers is indeed immense.

The event will be hosted on campus on May 10, 2008. This event will be indoors and most of the art will be on A-frames. So, I'd like to know if you'd be interested. Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

Ack.
I'm getting sick D: I can barely breathe, my throat is sore and my body is all achy. This is not good.
Tomorrow is my first day at work at the Tustin Ann Taylor, and I want to make a good impression!
Well its almost 2am and I'm stalling on writing this essay that is now due in.. 7 hours? *death*

Well this is interesting, I just found out that socal cosplay is having a gathering on Saturday at Mason Park in Irvine @ 11am-6pm.
AND
My dorm reunion is the exact same time, at the EXACT same place. Niice.

Oh well, I have no cosplays with me since they are at *home home*, but maybe I'll wander on by and say hi to everyone XD

My roommate and I were watching Xena on DVD (she just ought season 1). Pandora (Greek mythology) is in ep 3 and I knew I recognized the voice, and then half way through the episode, it hits me and I scream "ITS NURIKO!!!"
